The City of Lauderhill has tentatively adopted a measure to increase its property tax levy.

All concerned citizens are invited to attend a public hearing of the tax increase to be held on Friday, September 28, 2012

BANQUETS

 We recently conducted an analysis on Google of the different venues available to celebrate a wedding or any other social function within our community and around.

We decided to share our experience with you, so here you have the results of our walk around and interviews with the persons catering to our community.

 HOTELS

The hotels are traditionally the most prestigious way to celebrate an event. They have large spaces in luxurious settings, they have the highest rotation, produce the best food and employ the highest paid wait staff, securing this way that nothing will go wrong, or at least that things will go as best as possible, considering that all social events, and especially in weddings, very often families and cultures collide in a background of extreme nervousness.

The options for luxury in this area are the All Inclusive Inverrary Vacation Resort  (9544850500), which is the only hotel in Lauderhill, the Holiday Inn Sunrise (9547487000) and the Sheraton Plantation (9545398347). The Inverrary offers the largest settings with two ballrooms for up to 650 guests in a classic Resort, but if your party is up to 150 you can check the two others. Pricewise they are about the same and the savvy purchaser knows that it all depends on how good a negotiator you are or how complex you want your event to be. Our recommendation is that you set a budget and try to get into that budget as many items as possible. Make a list of everything you are going to need before sitting with them, as things can run high on price if you are looking for the perfect setting.

If you are not looking for luxury and extreme show off, you can look into the Holiday Inn Plantation (9544725600) which also has neat small banquet rooms.

BANQUET HALLS

In this category, you have the Inverrary Country Club, (9547337550), managed by David’s, and Diamante’s (9547260346) in Commercial Blvd, which converted a strip Mall into a banquet area several years ago. These are cheaper options if you are just looking for a setup to spend a good time and you are not expecting to impress your guests.

If you just need a small space at extremely cheap price you can go to the Inverrary Association banquet hall, or Crystal Dreams (9547481300).

RESTAURANTS

When in a budget, you can always make arrangements at a restaurant: some of them have a closed or corner area that can do the trick. Obviously do not expect privacy and noise may affect your party but on the other hand, the relaxed ambiance may work for the success of the gathering. Be careful in pre negotiate the details and total cost, as it may end that you expend more money that you thought.

Haveli Restaurant (9549148890) offers also banquets and is very popular with the Indian and Guyana community
